I understand your frustration. It was exactly because of this type of scenario that caused the team at Room Brite to develop our SimuLite. It increases customer satisfaction by helping the customer see a simulated install. We can't exactly reproduce the beauty of the Solatube effect, because full-spectrum sunlight is unparalleled in its quality. But, placement questions can definitely be answered ahead of time. If you have any other questions, contact me by email at joe@roombrite.com.

Room Brite developed our SimuLites, which are made from a Solatube bottom diffuser unit lighted with compact flourescent bulbs and outfitted with a pole. With the pole, we can hold the Simulite to the ceiling, and can "simulate" how a Solatube will light the area. We use them to assist the homeowner in deciding if they like the concept, and if they do, help them decide on placement. In several instances, I lost a sale because, after showing them the SimuLites, they decided to not buy an extra unit. It has been a tremendous tool in increasing customer satisfaction because they know more what they are purchasing before installation. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me at joe@roombrite.com.

I wish the solartube company I just used had used Simulights and seemed as ethical and careful as your company. To my shock - it was installed at 6 pm-, too late to tell that day- but it's been a week and no matter how sunny the day, I get light only over a very small area - less than 50 square feet and aimed toward the bright part of the room , vs the dark opposite corner I was installing it for. It would seem to me that it is because they put it on a vaulted ceiling angled away from the area where I needed light, the installer said it would spread 350 regardless but it certainly hasn't and at this point is a huge disappointing large expense. The installer is coming to see this week due to my complaints but the company has been discounting my complaint so far by phone- came across this article looking for info on how angle might effect light spread.
